If you’re a Acorns user, there’s a good chance you’re using the service to save money on your groceries. But Acorns also offers a number of other benefits, like automatic payments for bills and discounts on products and services. If you want to stop receiving Acorns payments, there’s one easy way: just unsubscribe from the service. You can do this by clicking on the “unsubscribe” link in the bottom right corner of any Acorns account page. Once you unsubscribe, all future Acorns payments will be sent to your old address instead.

After you submit a request to close your account, all of your funds will be converted into cash and returned to your linked checking account in 3-6 business days. Please keep in mind that for tax purposes, we may send you 1099 for your investment activities. Just log into the closed Acorns account and ask them to reopen it.

There are no penalties for withdrawing your money from the investment portion of the app. However, keep in mind that you must pay any capital gains tax on any profits you have earned since you signed up.

The basic Acorn account isn’t suited for long-term investing. The Acorns Core accounts are taxable brokerage accounts. If you’re investing for a longer-term goal like your kid’s college tuition or your retirement, you may want to look into some of the other account types available.

Using a web browser on a computer, open your account and log in. Select your account by entering its name Invest or Later into the search bar. Select the “Withdraw” option from the drop-down menu. Enter the amount of money you want to withdraw. Select Withdraw from the drop-down menu and confirm yours.
