This happens because you didn’t accept the update to the new version of OneDrive automatically. The easiest way to resolve this is to go into File Explorer or Windows Explorer and then search for files with OneDrive in their name, right click them and select Rename, type in .old at the end of the file name and hit enter (example: one drive_filedlg_ old). This will rename those files but they’ll be recreated if you start getting error messages about files not being synced. You can do so by going into File Explorer or Windows Explorer and then search for one drive_filedlg_ old. These will be named after folders like Documents, Pictures or Music by default.

What is the maximum number of files I can sync on my device before Files On-Demand becomes disabled?.

Under Settings > OneDrive > Camera upload there is a “Camera upload” slider. The lower this slider, the more photos you will be able to store locally. A value of 50 means that you can only keep 50 pictures offline at any one time. At a value of 10 you would be able to keep up to 1000 pictures offline. The default limit for this setting in Windows 10 Mobile build 10536 or later is set at.
