When a person dies, their Facebook account may be affected. If the person was a Facebook user, their account may be impacted by the death. To report the death of a Facebook user, you will need to go to their profile and click on the “Report A Death” button. Once you click on this button, you will need to provide some information about the person. You will need to provide their name, date of birth, and other important information about them. You can also provide any photos or videos that they may have taken on Facebook. Once you have provided all of this information, you will then need to wait for someone from Facebook to review it and determine if there is any damage or violation that has occurred with the account. If there is damage or violation that has occurred with the account, then Facebook will require you to take action in order to fix it. If everything goes according to plan and Facebook determines that there is no damage or violation with the account after reviewing your information, then they will allow you to continue using your account without any further action required from your part. However, if Facebook determines that there is damage or violation with the account after reviewing your information but still allows you use your account without any further action required from your part, then they will require you to take action in order to fix it.
If you choose not to permanently delete your account when dying, it will be memorialized and friends and family can post messages.
If you’re an immediate family member, you can request that the account be deleted instead of memorialized. To do this, use Facebook’s Special Request for Deceased Person’s Account form. You will need to provide the deceased person’s full name, email address, date of death and the URL of their Timeline
You can request that your Facebook account be deleted after you pass away by clicking “Delete After Death” in the Memorialization Settings option.Request to Delete Your Account Following Death
Dead people can have their Facebook profiles memorialized, which means that the profile will appear on Facebook as though they were still alive. Memorialized profiles don’t go away and you’ll be able to connect with a person who has died through friends’ memories.
Facebook seems to have been promised an ever-growing number of users, with the company already claiming 3 billion active users. However, recent reports that there are as many as 30 million dead people with Facebook accounts put things in perspective: “dead person’s” account is likely only around 1% of the total user base.
