If you’re a member of GroupMe, it’s time to remove your phone number from the app. GroupMe is a social media app that lets you connect with other users to share photos, videos, and messages. If you have your phone number in GroupMe, it’s easy to lose track of who’s talking to you and when. To remove your phone number from GroupMe, follow these steps:
- Log into the app and click on the three lines in the top left corner of the screen. This will take you to a page where you can enter your name and email address.
- Click on the three lines in the top right corner of the screen and select “Remove Number.” You’ll be asked for your name and email address again.
- Click on “Confirm” and then “Remove Number.” GroupMe will send out an email notification telling you that your number has been removed from the app.

Please note that once you cancel your account, it cannot be reinstated under the same username. We recommend making sure all of your files are backed up before canceling the account so that no data is lost in the process.
GroupMe never shares personal information with other members. Other group members can only see your avatar and name when you’re in the same chat; your phone number and email address are protected at all times.

Tap the avatar for your chat in order to activate it. Once activated, scroll down and find the Manage Group option. Tap this, then select Edit Group from the page that pops up.
