If you forgot your Gmail password, there are a few ways to get it back. If you’re using Google Chrome, open the Chrome browser and type in “password recovery” into the address bar. If you’re using Firefox, open the Firefox browser and type “reset password” into the address bar. If you’re using Safari, open Safari and type “reset password” into the address bar.
If this is the first time, go to Find your account and follow the onscreen instructions. You need a recovery phone number or email address (the one you had when you signed up for Gmail) and access to another device where you can sign in to an older version of Google Account using Chrome browser.

A browser window with your account info will pop up; click on Delete your account or go to More options and select Delete Gmail. When you do this, Google signs you out of all devices that are logged in using the same username/password as your Gmail account. Now click on Continue to delete account button at the bottom of this page. If asked whether you want to turn off only Gmail from Google accounts signed in on other sites and services (like Android, etc.), choose No thanks for now option. You can always switch it later if you want by following instructions in 2nd paragraph of “If I sign out” section below. Then enter a nickname of your choice (it will be used when someone is searching for your email account) and click on Delete Gmail button.
It may take few minutes for the process to complete, depending on how much data is in your Google Drive — you will see a message saying that it was deleted. Once this happens, you will be sent an email from Google that also confirms your request to delete a Gmail account.
If you want another way to delete your Gmail account immediately, sign in into any older version of Google Account using Chrome browser (it can be one used by Android phone or tablet), visit forgot password page with logging in and click on Find my account link under “I don’t know my username” section. When asked which device to use as backup, choose text message option and enter the phone number listed at your old Gmail address. Finally agree to deleting a Google account and you will get another message from Google confirming the request.
It is not possible to recover password in case of forgotten password (though, there are many other ways that I’ll talk about further down), thus it’s highly recommended to use two-step verification method if you have enabled it yet, because then simply entering an incorrect username/password would mean that only your access to email sent by those systems you linked with Gmail can be affected (and anyone who is willing to spend some time behind computer can always find a way around). And yes, using two-step verification also means that changing any credentials would require contacting support staff of all those sites where you have linked your account with Gmail.
Is there a way to get back access to my deleted Gmail account?
