If you’re like most people, you probably have a few pictures of friends and family on Instagram. But if you want to delete one of those pictures, there’s a process you can follow. To delete a picture from Instagram, first open the app and select the picture you want to remove. Then tap on the three lines in the top left corner of the screen and select “Delete.”
Find the unwanted picture
First, you can use the “unfollow button.” If you see a picture on someone else’s feed that you don’t want to see, swipe across it and find the un-follow button. A small X will appear just above the bottom of the picture. Touching this button will unfollow this user and remove that photo from your feed without deleting it from Instagram’s server.
If you don’t want to unfollow anyone, there is still a way to get rid of an unwanted image. You can submit a feedback request by visiting the bottom right of someone’s profile page or by clicking on the three horizontal lines in their bio. On your screen will be an option called “Feedback Request.” Submit a feedback request for any photo that you’re not comfortable with seeing in your feed, and it will be removed from your feed and everyone else’s feeds as well.
Finally, if none of these options work for you, there is always the option of deleting a photo yourself. This means going into Instagram or changing your settings to tap “un-liked” which will then delete it from Instagram’s server and all of your friends’ feeds as well.
Select the image to remove
If you want to delete an image on your feed, but not actually remove it from Instagram’s server, there is a way for you to remove the image. Just select the image that you want to remove and put your finger in the middle of the screen. The image will then disappear from your feed and other people’s feeds.
If you have already deleted an image from your feed, but still want people to see it, tap on the picture and then follow these steps: Tap “Request removal.” After this request has been submitted, the photo will be removed from your feed and other people’s feeds. You can also share an edited version of an individual photo with friends or followers who weren’t able to see it before.
Unselect the image to remove.
To remove an unwanted photo, you need to first select it. When you are scrolling through your feed, simply tap on the picture to bring up a menu with two options: one for selecting it, and the other for deleting it.
If you don’t want to delete the photo but only want to unselect it from your feed, just tap on the three dots in the top left corner of the image. This will take you to a menu that lets you see how many people have liked or commented on it as well as which social networks it’s been shared on. To unselect it from your feed, simply tap “unfollow.”
