You can’t delete contacts from Google Contacts. The best way to clean up your contacts is to create an export of your contacts and then delete the old ones.

All you have to do is install the app, grant it access to your Gmail account, and wait for it to sync with your contacts. You can also go into the settings on your phone and download your contacts from Google.

The best way to merge contacts in Gmail is to use the Google Contacts website. Log into your account and select ‘Merge contacts’. You can then scan through your contacts and choose which ones you want to merge.
