If you’re like most people, you probably use AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) to communicate with friends and family. But if you ever need to delete your AIM account, be prepared to do a little digging. First, go to the main AIM screen and click on the “Account” button in the top left corner. This will take you to a page where you can see all of your current accounts. Next, select the “User Profiles” tab at the top of the page. On this tab, you’ll see a list of all of your AIM user profiles. To delete a profile, simply click on it and then click on the “Delete Profile” button in the bottom right corner. Is it possible to modify my AOL username? Unfortunately, after you’ve created an account, you can’t change or update your username. If you want a different login name, you’ll have to start a new account.
In your computer’s web browser, go to delete-my-account. If you need to log in, do so. If prompted for your login information, type in your email address and click Next. Enter your AOL password when prompted and then sign in by clicking Continue delete my account.
Go to Settings. Click Users in the General section. Select the user you wish to delete. Click Remove. Click Remove one more time, then Continue to confirm that you want to remove this account.
You can’t just cancel your email account without closing the entire AOL account, including AIM instant messaging. Furthermore, after 90 days, your emails and address book are permanently erased; you won’t be able to retrieve the account thereafter.
AOL’s email service, in particular, is popular among users because it has a high level of security. Because most consumers prefer AOL mail to any other email service, it has a top-notch security policy. The email address you select when you create the AOL account becomes your primary email address, and it cannot be changed or deleted.
