If you’re like most people, Facebook is a part of your life. Whether you use it to stay connected with friends and family, or to keep up with current events, Facebook is an essential part of your online presence. But if you’re like many people, Facebook is also a potential security risk. If you’re not careful, Facebook can easily become the focus of your online activities and could be used to access your personal information or even to commit fraud. To protect yourself from Facebook’s potential dangers, here are some tips:

  1. Disable cookies: Cookies are small files that Facebook sets on your computer in order to remember certain preferences and actions you take on the site. By disabling cookies, Facebook will not be able to remember these preferences and actions for future visits. This will help protect your privacy and prevent Facebook from tracking your online activity.
  2. Use a firewall: A firewall can help protect your computer from being infected by malicious programs or websites. By blocking access to websites that may be harmful to your computer, you can reduce the chances that Facebook will be able to access sensitive information on your computer.
  3. Use a password manager: A password manager helps keep track of all of your passwords and helps you store them securely in a safe place. By using a password manager, you can avoid having too many different passwords spread around the internet and make it more difficult for someone else to steal important personal information from you.

Scroll down and select Account Ownership and Control below Your Facebook Information. Tap Deactivation and Deletion. Choose Deactivate Account, then Continue to Account Deactivation, and then follow the on-screen instructions to confirm your deactivation.

Simply go to Settings > Security > Deactivate Your Account in a web browser, or Settings > Account Settings > Security>Account Deactivate on an iPhone or Android device.

Scroll down and choose Settings from the drop-down menu. Tap Account Ownership and Control below Your Facebook Information in the left column. Tap Deactivation and Deletion in the bottom right corner. Select Deactivate Account, then Continue to Account Deactivation, and then Complete Deactivation. Confirm by following the on-screen directions.

Go to your Facebook account’s settings (by selecting the drop-down arrow in the upper right corner of the page). If Facebook doesn’t take you there by default, go to General Account Settings. Then, even if deactivation is fully reversible, Facebook will ask you whether you’re sure.

To remove Facebook, press the Windows key and type “Facebook.” Choose “Uninstall” from right-click menu on the Results bar. To delete the program from your computer, click the Uninstall button.
