Starbucks is asking customers to delete their accounts in order to avoid potential future charges. The coffee giant says that it will no longer process payments for past purchases made with an account that has been deleted. Starbucks says that this change is necessary in order to “prevent potential fraud and protect the privacy of our customers.” The move comes as Starbucks faces increasing competition from rival chains, including Dunkin’ Donuts and McDonald’s, which are both offering free coffee for loyalty members.
